For the background I hung a sheet over some furniture to get a studio like setup. I stretched the sheet as much as possible and used thumbtacks to keep it in place. The whole setup was in front of a window in mid afternoon. I also set a desk lamp to shine on the background.

I was trying to imitate the effect of "Lomography." I used a levels layer for the vignette, then a curves layer to imitate the effect of cross processing on film and finally and unsharp mask to sharpen before converting to JPEG.
